Going live

I think the day has finally come; our friend has done an awful lot of work getting our new website set up, and whilst we are still working on it, I think it’s ready to be put online.

This past month has been quite dominated by chicken pox, first with Nathaniel, who got such a high temperature with it, he took a febrile convulsion, and he ended up in Raigmore hospital, Inverness for a night with his dad. 2 weeks later then, Eden came out in spots, (as well as a few other local children with whom we had been in contact before knowing we were contagious!). They are both feeling a lot better now however, and the spots are going away well.

Almost every family in our church has had illness or drama of some kind or other in recent weeks, and we are aware of the constant need of those who are praying for us.

In comparison with the rest of the country, Skye has been really dry now for several weeks, and this, coinciding with the time that the local crofters burn off the heather to let fresh grass grow through, has led to some quite worrying results. Yesterday, the croft next to ours was on fire as we returned home, and the fire brigade had to be called out. The fire crept right up to the fence of our croft before fizzling out or being put out by the fire fighters, it was then blown right along the top of the hill above our croft, coming quite close to another fence, but thankfully it passed on.

It reminded me of the story of the deer which was amazingly found alive on the hills after fires had swept through. It was found to have broken through the flames and had taken refuge on the ground that had already been burned. The great application for us is that there is a great fiery judgement coming which no-one will escape. It is possible for the fires to pass us by however if we can get to ground that has already been burned. The fire of God’s judgement fell upon His son on the cross of Calvary and if we put our trust in Him, and the sacrifice He made on our behalf, then we have no need to fear the judgement to come – the fire has already passed!

We have a few special events coming up at the church this month, and plan to commence a Christianity Explored course at the end of the month, so please keep praying!
